FORT KENT - Wilmer R. Daigle, 71, beloved husband of Florence (Thibodeau) Daigle, died Jan. 24, 2001, at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Champion Alberta, Canada, Aug. 15, 1929, the son of Roderidue and Delina (Labbe) Daigle. Wilmer was a heavy equipment operator for the State of Maine, D.O.T. from 1956 until his retirement in 1999. He was a life member of the VFW Lozier O'Grady Post 9609, Fort Kent. Besides his wife, Florence of Fort Kent, Wilmer is survived by two sons, John A. and Mike N., both of Fort Kent; two daughters, Arlene Blier of Fort Kent and Louise Daigle of Cape Elizabeth; five brothers, Maurice ofJacksonville, Fla., Bernard of Cape Cod, Mass., Lorenzo of Hermon, Patand Oreen Daigle, both of Fort Kent; one sister, Juillette Lipka of Shawner, Kan.; one granddaughter, Shelly Rene Blier; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Daigle Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent, 7-9p.m. Thursday and 12 noon Friday until time of services. A Mass of Christian Burial, with full military honors, will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, with the Rev. Mike Doucette officiating. Committal services will be held May 15, 2001, in theparish cemetery. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Visiting Nurses of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou 04736-9976.
