LEWISTON and VAN BUREN Emma Blier, 88, died unexpectedly Oct. 1, 2002, at her Lewiston residence. She was born in Van Buren, Mar. 13, 1914, the daughter of Napoleon and Odelie (Pelletier) Duperry. She was educated in local schools and graduated from high school at the age of 15. After working many years at the Keegan Post Office, she married Rudolph Blier in 1940. She and her husband farmed potatoes, sugar beets and the like for many years. They also owned and operated the Blier Cedar Mill in Van Buren where she worked as secretary and treasurer. She is survived by her four children, Rolande Reuter and her husband, George of Upper Marlboro, Md.; Angela Maloney and her husband, Gerry of Turner, Rudolph Blier and his wife, Suzanne Preston-Blier of Cambridge, Mass.; Alan Blier and his wife, Susan of Hermon; one sister, Sr. Bertha Duperry SCIM of Biddeford; six grandchildren, one great- grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph on Dec. 31, 1987, and eight brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, on Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
