        VAN BUREN and LAKE WALES, FLA. - Joseph Blier Jr., 80, died unexpectedly Dec. 27, 2000, at a Winter Haven, Fla. hospital. He was born in Van Buren, May 27, 1920, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Ouellette) Blier Sr. Joe had been a resident of Lake Wales since 1987, after relocating from Gorham. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1635 and Fourth Degree Assembly 0349 of Van Buren andhad been a communicant at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales. He was a retired public accountant, having worked for Rowe Ford in Westbrook. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Plourde) Blier of Lake Wales; two sons, John Blier of Wells and Michael Blier of Evans, Ga.; two daughters, Ann Marie Owens of E. Sebago and Gloria Maltz of Farmington; four brothers, Aurele Blier of Lewiston, Carroll Blier of Nashua, N.H.; Roland Blier of Bridgeport, Conn., and Gerald Blier of Van Buren; five sisters, Sr. Anita Blier, RHSJ of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; Bertha Bergeron of W. Chesterfield, N.H.; Geralda Boutot of Naugatuck, Conn., Loretta Fournier of Bethpage, Long Island, N.Y., and Cecile Bouchard of Van Buren; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in his memory to the American Cancer Society, Maine Division, Inc., 52 Federal St., Brunswick, 04011. Arrangements are a service of Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren.
