Notes

Note: 1 (Research)

Was knighted on 19 November 1611; ennobled on 20 July 1612. In 1630 he bought the Maison du Chesne (nowadays the Ferme au Chêne) in Durbuy and exploited the brewery in it. Was likely involved in the construction of the St Nicolas church in Durbuy in 1632, or it was erected in his memory. His tombstone has disappeared from the church.

In his will, Nicolas leaves a few pieces of land to Henri [his brother - but which one of the two?]. He also appoints his nephew Guid as his successor. My father wasn't able to figure out what that implied. It could be an indication that he wanted to pass on his title and keep it in the family, since his own sons had died.

If Nicolas was the youngest child, then it's likely that he was only a few years older than his nephew Guid.

Note: 2 (Research)

Letters patent mention three brothers who died on the battlefield. For Everard and Poncelet this is the case, but who was the third brother? As far as I can see it could only have been Henri le Jeune.
