FRENCHVILLE – Alphena A. Daigle, 74, joined her Lord Feb. 9, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her husband and children were with her. Born Sept. 23, 1933, in Fort Kent, to Romeo and Melinda Blier, she was the oldest of 10 children and was known to many as “Phena.” She attended Fort Kent schools. On Sept. 9, 1952, she married her husband, Elroy, with whom she shared her life for 55 years. She was a wonderful wife and mother to six children. Employed for many years by Northern Trading Co., Madawaska, she was a member of St. Luce Parish, Upper Frenchville. Phena enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Harold. In addition to her husband, Elroy, she is survived by three daughters, Ann Lee of Portland, Deborah Ouellette and her husband, Marc, of St. David and E. Carla Daigle of Waterville; three sons, Robert of St. David, Glendon of Alexandria, Va., and Daniel of Buxton; nine grandchildren, Danielle Bonenfant, Kelly (Daigle) Reynolds, Nicole Daigle, Sean and Adam Kavanagh, Dustin and Matt Lee, Joey Daigle and Erika Daigle; one great-grand-child, Owen Reynolds; four sisters, Oneida and Harold Dubois of Milford, Velma and Leonard Jandreau of Fort Fair-field, Bernice Blier of Thomaston, Conn., and Violet Savage of Stuart, Fla.; five brothers, Norman Blier of Presque Isle, Herman and Donald Blier of Chester, Mass., Maurice and Carl Blier of Wolcott, Conn.; sisters-in-law, Juliette (Daigle) McGlinn and her husband, John, of Littleton, Colo., Ra-mona (Daigle) Overton of Pen-sacola, Fla., Wilma (Daigle) Petetabella of East Hartford, Conn., Velma (Daigle) Boucher and her husband, Raymond, of Plainville, Conn., Bernadette (Daigle) Mitchell of Eagle Lake and Violet Daigle of Fort Kent; brothers-in-law, Sherman Daigle and his wife, Necia, of Fort Kent and Laurel Daigle and his wife, Priscilla, of Fort Kent; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, and 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at Mich-aud Funeral Home, Frenchville. A Mass celebrating Alphena’s life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luce Catholic Church, Upper Frenchville, with the Rev. Philip Cyr officiating. Interment will be at St. Luce Cemetery in the spring.
